I use File Browser and I bought a WD My Cloud Home 4 TB. Apparently the drive is set up in two parts... one side is SMB and I can easily add that in File Browser. I can see the ‘public’ folder and easily add files etc. The other side is the ‘cloud’ with private user access. You can log on to that part even away from home through their home page (home.mycloud.com) or with their app. Each user has their own cloud space which is private and there is a shared family folder as well.
I want to add this user account area for my specific account to File Browser to make moving files easier than having to use the share menu. I only use the SMB for movies and for working folders for video editing. Since it’s not able to have private folders for each person. It’s also only accessible while at home.

My question is does anyone know what settings to use to set it up!? There must be some way as it’s already available online via Browser logon and by their own app.

Edit. Oops, not going to work.. ”my cloud” and ”my cloud home” are totally differend products and home-version has no web dashboard to controll settings (but it is done via app). So the text under is not for ”my cloud home”...

Im not sure what you mean, but cant you add priviledges to private shares for the specific user from mycloud dashboard to be able to use the share?

For example there are shares:

Public (for all by default)
MyUserAccount
Private1
Private2
Private3
etc

If you want to use a share (3), cannot you go to the dashboard and add your account ”myUserAccount” to have a priviledges to read and write to the share ”Private3”.

I have My Cloud Home and there is a webpage to control settings at home.mycloud.com

All I can do on there is add or delete users though.

My point is that if the browser can access mycloudhome and I can log on and see my files in my private user area then why can’t I figure out the settings to put into File Browser to see that same directory? Obviously the device is being seen outside the LAN because I can log into it from anywhere.

Oh well I guess using share menu is only way for now... I’d be happy if WD even added support in iOS files app for it.

wd apps connect via wd server automatically (the wd my cloud home keeps the connection alive so that any device using my cloud app can connect to it) when you arent in a local network.

i just checked from wd web pages and seems to be that only way to get remote access to ”my cloud home” is to use ”my cloud client apps”.

That My Cloud Home is their new product and works differently than other My Cloud devices. You will get better support for it from WD community forums.

Wouldn’t be so much of an issue if they’d integrate their app with iOS files so that you can easily copy files between places instead of having to use the share or open in and doing it the long way. If they’d integrate MyCloud Home app in iOS Files then it would be 100% a ok. In fact I’ve sent feedback to them.
I have everything else including the SMB share from the MyCloud home interacting thru iOS files. Even a USB stick (Adam elements iKlips is the only USB stick which you can directly access the sticks memory thru iOS files like that - highly recommend!!!!) so the only thing missing is my private user area of the WD My Cloud Home. In fact that is what is keeping me from using it as a main storage.

Yeah I tried it doesn’t work with my Cloud Home.

I hope they do an update for the My Cloud Home app to do the same. Maybe I should have got the regular my Cloud.... but the My Cloud Home was smaller physically and was on sale.
