You know, I totally understand the battery life being shortened due to the extra strain from 3G and GPS - makes perfect sense, it's a trade off.

The thing that's a pain is you have to go through about 3 or 4 screens to turn it off or on. It would be really nice if there was a way to have an icon on the screen to just turn off/on 3G and or GPS - and WiFi for that matter.

I'm mean really - I don't need 3G all day for e-mail, so why have it on? Save my battery - I'm at work anyhow - but when I go to a meeting and want to web or want to look something up away from my desk, it would be nice to be able to quickly and easily turn 3G back on.

Or another alternative would be to specify what functions use 3G - like tell the phone to use 3G for Web, but use Edge for e-mail - seems like it wouldn't be that hard and could go a long way to ease the battery pain.

That's exactly what I want...

But I don't really want to Jailbreak. Not that I have a problem with it, just don't think I should have to spend time hacking in to the phone and worrying about updates and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

I would LOVE an app like that through the iTunes app store - I'd even pay!

A battery manager is what we need...to control all the battery hogs on it. Needs to be simple and quick.

I would pay depending on the app.

Not going to jailbreak if I don't have to.
