Could someone please build another flashlight app for the iPhone 4 ?

I just wish that flashlight apps could take up all of the 120 apps listed in the "What's Hot" utilities section.

I'm not really against competition, but when one concept (a flashlight) dominates the entire "What's Hot" section it makes it impossible for any other utilities to get noticed by consumers. What ever happened to developers coming up with their own new and unique ideas ?

both my flashlights require a jailbroken device, I got springflash for sbsettings and torch shortcut in switcherplus :D

When one concept (a flashlight) dominates the entire "What's Hot" section, I would say that means flashlight apps are pretty hot. Why let one developer dominate the market? And what's wrong with trying to build a better flashlight?

They are taking up the space that could be used by more fart apps.

I'm actually working on a farting flashlight app. I hope to unite the two genres and pave the way for apps we couldn't even begin to imagine right now. ETA: Dec 2011. But it will be well worth the wait, and will revolutionize the entire industry. I'm not yet sure if I'll copyright Flashfart or Fartlite. But I have over a year before I have to decide.

They're making a new feature for push fart notifications. Once you get pushed a fart, you can send a fart text (fxt) to your friends so they can hear the same farts.

May I suggest Flatulight?
The What's Hot says more about consumers than developers, I'm afraid.

This is the latest change log:
We have added one more light source to the current library!
The new light source is called "Warning Lights" and consists of two blinking yellow LEDs. The Warning Lights source is extremely useful when you have to warn the people around you. For example, when you change a tyre in the dark, you can use the Warning lights to signal the passing by cars, so you won't get hit by accident.

We have also made some improvements to the current light sources: we have redesigned the graphics in the Bulb Lights source, changed the active button image of the light sources button in the upper right corner of the screen, and fixed a small bug in the LED Light source.

This is all for now. Stay tuned for version 1.3 next week!

They take up the entire "What's Hot" section, because that's what's hot, that's what sells, and that's what people are buying. It doesn't say "Featured" or "Noteworthy" or any other category highlighting random apps which is where such random apps would be placed regardless of popularity.

I hadn't thought of that

This is exactly the type of innovation that I had completely overlooked when I originally made the sarcastic statement about needing more flashlights. With innovation like this I can only begin to dream about all of the continued refinements that this competition will create down the road. Heck, I bet six months from now the newer flashlight apps will be so revolutionary that you wont even recognize them. We have only begun to tap into just how far one can go with new flashlight apps, I hope several hundred more (best or brightest) flashlight apps come out soon, I can hardly wait to try all of them. On a serious note I do like using the LED on my iPhone 4 for a flashlight, it's actually pretty good. My problem with all of this is that the very first LED flashlight app was 99.999999% as good as any of them will ever be, just being able to turn it on and off pretty much gives me everything I could ever want.
