Today I just saw this great effort online for the greek customers of Apple Computers Inc.

Let's hope that soon, Apple will be OFFICIALY represented here in Greece.

They have all my support and my wishes for this "dream" to come true.

I wonder If they can add South Africa to the list! I seriously feel for them, we also dont get any BTO options, and very little direct support.

I hope they succeed, will show me that Apple has intentions of brining US and UK class support to the rest of the world!

While I can understand them, we don't have any Apple Stores in Denmark either but we can get everything else online.

I hope we get a store in Cyprus too. Although i am perfectly happy with my Apple dealer we miss alot of great things like educational discounts or AppleCare. You can't imagine what a nuisance it was just to get a replacement battery for my MBP after the recall.

Rainbow (Apple's official dealer in Greece) is a joke, they are giving a bad reputation to Apple and buying a Mac is the worst computer buying experience you can get.

And charging money for a patch that supposedly offers Greek support in OS X is unacceptable, but i blame Apple on this.

Except all the above you people said, when was the last time that you saw an Apple commercial on TV or on a computer magazine, or even a poster here in Greece????

Only once I saw on RAM magazine a page with the new first Video iPod.

Rainb(l)ow ruins Apple's reputation and philosophy, and we should never forget how Apple started, what it's creators was thhinking and from what support was grow to be the one that is today.

I know, money has major involvement to any investments, BUT, sometimes, taking a risk is the only way to see if the "deciples" still follow your philosophy. Because as a bottom line, feelings, philosophy, music and mathematics, are universal.

And as we say here in Greece "Hope dies last", I still hope that one day I'll travel to Athens and on Stournara Str. I'll see a Blue huge cube with white stripes and a cross (all the colors will be made of glass) and the Apple logo in the middle.... a dream that can be true within a month since Steve or Apple's marketing will decide to move on this way....

How do Apple's competitors handle support in Greece? Could you (if you were willing to use one) get the support you're asking for from Dell, HP, or Sony? I know it's not an exact analog, I'm just curious is Apple is being especially dim, or just comparably dim.

I can get a Sony or a Dell virtually from any electronics store and i can have it delivered as soon as the day after. It's basically as simple as buying a cd-player.

But if you want a Mac then get ready for some really hard wall-banging. I personally buy from a third-party reseller, which are plentiful in Cyprus. The problem is that these resellers get their merchandise from Rainbow in Greece because somehow they became the official distributor to the countries nearby. So we have to follow the rules set by them, which means higher prices, lack of support, lack of promotional features, etc etc.

Now if you wanna buy directly from Rainbow, the should-be simple and enjoyable procedure of buying a Mac is more complicated than buying a private F-16 jet. Really you have to experience it to believe it. The reason Rainbow has chosen to follow such a business-model is beyond me.

Also the claim that there is not enough market in Greece (mentioned in a similar thread) doesn't stand too much. Here in Cyprus with barely 700,000 population Apple resellers are popping like mushrooms, but that's because of good marketing and excellent support from these people. Maybe Apple doesn't invest in Greece because it sees a lack of interest and low sales, but that's purely Rainbow's fault.

I personally don't need a shiny official Apple Store as the ones in US or the UK, i only want to get what i pay for and what Apple advertises on their website. As long as Apple ships their products to foreign countries they should make sure those customers are treated the same. I think that's fair enough.

I blame both Rainbow and Apple for this. I have written 2 complaint letters directly to Apple in the past, explaining the whole situation in detail, but never got a response nor seen anything change.

I admire your efforts, but internet petitions are about as effective as walking outside and screaming "We want Apple Greece!".

Especially ones that are signed by people that don't even live in Greece.

I'd suggest sending Apple feedback via Apple.com about your poor experiences in Greece and have others who have had similar experiences do the same.

Actual customer complaints mean much more to Apple than a webpage.

But I wish you the best of luck. If it really is as bad as you say it is in Greece, then you deserve better.

where are good support shops for Apple in Cyprus? For the second time in a row I am stuck in Nicosia with a broken PowerBook and don't know a shop I can trust. I've lived in Cyprus for four years but before my Mac-time so now that I am coming back from time to time I find myself in this awkard situation.
