Received a pair of AirPods Pro from the education store (promotion) when ordering MacBook. They were perfect. But decide to return MacBook and purchase m1 MacBook, so had to return the pros.

purchased pros from target and it seems that the noise cancellation is non existent. Was there a change in hardware? Both, new and old pair, had spatial audio update.

how can I check?

There definitely have been complaints that software updates over time have somewhat nuked the NC effectiveness.

This is my second set of AirPods Pro and I purchased my first set from Apple and my second set from Walmart during the $169 sale and I have noticed a difference in the transparency mode. The second set doesn’t seem to have the robust/transparent sound as the first. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the updated, however there's a definite difference.

User error ;...I found the settings for transparency mode.
