Do any of the weather apps have GPS capability?

I was on a road trip back from North Carolina and switching from weather to maps when I thought "Hey, a combo would be nice"

Didn't feel like surfing through the app store so bear with me if the answer is obvious. Thanks

Do you mean GPS in the sense that they keep track of where you are (most do that...) or do you mean you want navigation help and weather at the same time? (P.S. as you can see, I moved your post to its own thread.)

GPS in the sense that I would like to get directions comparable to that of the Maps app. With the "drive 123 miles and turn left" type directions on a weather app.

Thanks!

Chances are better someone creating a GPS app with weather features, rather than someone creating a weather app with GPS functionality.

Most definitely -- the weather app part is much simpler... I don't know that any of the current nav programs do have weather, though. At least, I haven't seen in the reviews that any do.

FWIW, also, in iOS 4, a navigation program can continue to provide directions in the background while another app is running. I don't know that Maps will support this, since it doesn't really do "turn by turn" directions, particularly not via audio, but I would assume it's fairly likely that the third party turn-by-turn apps will do it.

Right on. Thanks for the info you were able to provide.

I guess I find it surprising that no one else has made an app like this. I assume many iPhone users travel cross country and would like to have their GPS giving them live weather while they are on the road. Truck drivers especially! It wasn't a big deal switching from Maps to the Weather Channel app, but having it all in one would have been great.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I own TomTom and Navigon MobileNavigator and having some weather info in the apps would be great!
