I'm trying to understand where the weather app is getting it's observations from. They are completely inaccurate for me.
ex: it's 100% sunny in the sky, not a single cloud in sight and it might say rain or rain starting in a few minutes. Yesterday we had a big storm that lasted all day, yet the app said it was just "cloudy" with no rain in sight.

The temperature, humidity, pressure, etc. are usually close enough. Yes I am using the correct location.

I tried to compare its observations with weather.gov and the weather channel, but both those sources have accurate observations so I really don't know where my iPhone is getting its data from at this point...
What am I missing?

I've seen this happen with EVERY iOS beta since iOS 15. I don't know why, but during the beta stage the weather forecast and current conditions are always inaccurate.

To be honest, I've seen this since I got my very first iPhone about 12-13 years ago. It has never been accurate for me.

I even see this in the public releases. It has gotten worse a couple years ago, probably because the data sources changed after iOS 15.2. Previously, information used to pull from "The Weather Channel". Now, information is pulled from "Apple Weather"...whatever that is. Seems like they're trying to re-invent weather prediction or something.

Like the OP, I occasionally get precipitation alerts when it's only cloudy, partly cloudy, or even sunny out. I still have The Weather Channel app installed, and precipitation alerts there seem to be more accurate for me. (I'm still on iOS 16.)
