Hi

iPhone 15pro, on battery screen I have 19% background activity for the weather widget, yet I have removed the weather widget ages ago. The only time I check weather occasionally is via the app.
Can anyone explain this?

I think I remember a long while back it was a known issue that the widget was causing drain so I removed it, but ever since it still is one of top battery drains, even after removing the widget.

Thanks

I have Apple Weather installed on my iDevice with widget on Home Screen. Your post made me check battery use and it is below 1% with other barely-registering apps. For me 19% would be a Messages-level amount of battery use, not far behind Safari.

I suggest visiting an Apple Store and showing them. Or maybe re-insall the Weather app and then watch the numbers for a few days. Perhaps an older version had a power-eating bug that the installation of a newer version would overwrite? And if so, you could then turn around and delete it again- if you like- and possibly solve your problem... or just keep it installed and enjoy having a normal weather app working now.

Didn't think of that, I will delete the app and install again and keep an eye on it for a few days. Thanks

If that doesn’t work, and going to an Apple Store is too much of a hassle, remember that if you have a computer you can always perform a clean install. Just remember to backup your data.
