I'm having difficulties designing my website, www.harveypooka.net.

I have ideas for headers, rough layouts, and stuff that I like, but when it comes down to the content - how to display it, backgrounds, etc - my mind goes blank.

My current idea for a header is attached.

Any advice? How do you plan your website layout?

There are literally hundreds of templates available here: http://www.oswd.org/

Get inspiration from one of those, or use one of those. That's what they are there for.

As long as, if you use one, you give the original designer credit somewhere on your site.

There are some really spectacular ones too.

Cheers.

I had a similar problem what I did to achieve some road blocks is I did a creative brief and sketch up on paper the layout and wrote my ideas all over. Just treat yourself like the client and designer and brainstorm a lot what do you want to achieve.
