Hi, planning on buying a laptop in the near future with main concern being web design. I currently own Studio 8 for my desktop pc and to my understanding it is not supported by new intel based macs...wondering if anyone has had experience with using the windows system boot on macs and in particular with Dreamweaver and Flash 8 Prof.

You can still use Studio 8 on the Mac. I currently have a 1.83 Ghz, 2gb RAM Macbook running Flash 8. It works fine. Haven't used Dreamweaver on here yet...but it should be fine. As long as you upgrade the RAM.
I haven't tried booting from windows so can't comment there.

The confusion is because they aren't Universal (i.e. optimized for Intel and PPC chips). They will run just fine on an Intel chip under Rosetta (Apple's solution to running PPC code on an Intel chip). You may notice a slight speed hit, but for Dreamweaver and such I don't think it would be a deal breaker. Working on high resolutions photos in Photoshop is another matter, but it still works.
You won't be able to install the Windows-based version, if that's what you mean. The PowerPC version will work.
But Windows runs natively, and well, on the MacBook, so that option is always available. I haven't tested any powerful applications under Parallels...

yeah, if i were you i'd use bootcamp and dual boot into XP, and load your Studio 8 onto that - it'll run excellent.
Oh I understand that, and my studio 8 is both for windows and mac. What I'm concerned with, and I wont be buying a laptop for little while is whether I should just stick with a pc laptop because I may see a drop in performance and I really dont enjoy that in my comp. So advice on this, whether to go pc or mac laptop in regards to web design right now or very near future without having to buy adobe's new programs that will be universal?
You won't see any drop in performance using XP on your mac laptop than you would on a pc laptop - actually, in many benches I've seen, XP runs faster on the mac hardware than on its native PC counterparts (anyone have links to some of these?). I'd go for the mac laptop so that you have the best of both worlds.roemster said:
And I'd hold off buying any of the software for your mac side until CS3 comes out - after that it'll be blazing fast.
