iOS Web Hosting - Push Notifications

I was trying to find the best web hosting solution or some that you all use for iOS push notifications. I realize I need to open the port Apple calls the notification on and so I'm looking at ones such as intovps, webfaction and blue hosting. I have had experience with webfaction and isn't at all.

I know I won't burn through the traffic limit of the app (bandwidth) as it will be lunching on the app store soon and will take time to build a user base. Though would it be better to just go with AWS? If that's the best one, how much would it cost? I know they have a free tier but after the first year, how much would it be?

Also, I am having trouble seeing how I open the ports on the AWS services.

Just FYI, I have started using parse and they support sending push notifications automatically. If you don't need a custom rolled solution you may want to check them out.

Take a look at the service called Urban Airship. You can send up to 1.000.000 notifications per year free of charge. Also, the provide great documentation on how to set everything up.

For my own apps I use a VPS (virtual private server) hosted at digitalocean.com. It uses a debian system and my own push service. If you have special needs, consider this possibility.
