Ok guys why does the iPad take so long to load web pages. As an example when I load a thread on this forum It takes 3 pauses to load the pages when I scroll down. My last 3 have done the same exact thing but thought it was due to the bad wi-fi issues I'm having but I tried my bro in laws and his does the same exact thing. When I load the same pages on my wifes crappy work laptop they load instantly with no delay. This dam checker board effect loading screen is doing my eyes in. Is there anyway to make these pages load faster.

You are probably holding it wrong.

;) Inhave triedmnumerous speed tests and even different browsers with zero improvement. I'm gonna try the ones in the store and see how they do next timemin in there. I got a feeling they are all slow pike this.

Nothing, wrong.

Mine is exactly the same and i suspect anyone who says otherwise (my ipad is lightning fast as web pages) is deluding themselves or much have a rotten main machine that is slow also.

On my desktop, a whole web page appears almost instantly.

On the iPad, you click your shortcut (tiny delay) the top half of the web page appears so you scroll down into checkerboard, then a short delay later (am only talking another couple of) the rest of the page appears.

I have tried this on Wireless G and N only routers and with/without security in place.

Exactly the same.

Perhaps the iPad does not have the CPU power to render the whole page very fast, or it's some memory issue?

Yep that's exactly how my last 3 have been and my bro in laws. I even spoke to my friend in UK who has a 50mb data connection and his one is the same also. Nothing like it shows onnthe adverts on tv. Even my old hero loads pages much quicker with 10 apps running! Something not right with the delay.

On my iPad Wireless N it can pull date down to it at over 20 megabits/sec

So it's nothing to do with speed of data getting to iPad.

It must be CPU power related, or Ram related (speed it can write to memory)

Like you, it's exactly the same in any browser.

But then, I find the same thing in Google Earth street view.

On my PC it's faster than on the iPad. If I click ahead (in street view) too fast, I just end up in a 3D world full of checkerboard.

Don't get me wrong, it's ok. It's just not as quick as it could be and should be.

Perhaps if we get a 2ghz version with beefed up GPU next time around this will all be better.

sometimes this site / forum loads slowly.

However the forum also loads slowly on my laptop, quicker than my iPad but still pretty slowly. I wouldn't be surprised if something on the site is stopping the page from downloading in parallel. That might explain why the top blue bar always shows up first and then everything else appears.
