Webcam for use with mac mini? [Facetime, Skype, ...] [MERGED]

Now that FaceTime (Beta) is being made available for OS X and the Mac, how do you go about using it with a Mac mini which has no web cam supplied by Apple?
Any suggestions on the purchase of a high quality, highly compatible web cam?
Thoughts on this matter?? Please.
 
I got one of Best Buy's Rocketfish cams and it works just fine on my Mini. Not endorsing the cam, just verifying it works. Facetime used the cam all on its own, too.
 
Or buy a monitor equipped with a webcam built in....like an LED cinema display. :)

Yeah works fine. Some of the advanced features you can only control via Windows, see this thread..

But we have not missed them. Your mileage may vary. Some folks on the thread above recommend the Logitech instead. Since my Mini also has Windows 7 on it, i use it under both OS's. Mic is included.

Just bought this one and used it on both my Macbook and Mac Mini with no problems--just plug in and go. Looks like the price went up about $10 since I bought it earlier this week.

Logitech HD Webcam C310 vs Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac

So i saw the Logitech QuickCam® Vision Pro for Mac and thought great a webcam for the mac however upon closer examination the c310 looks a much better and cheaper option, someone here has states the c310 works great with facetime is this also the case for skype.

These are the only two programs i could see myself using the webcam for.

Is there any benfits to buying the Logitech QuickCam® Vision Pro for Mac

huh... your tv runs independent from any accessories you add. I have a Samsung LED tv and it has usb, dvi ports and can support external drives and webcams but that's for the TV on and the apps via Smart TV.

Mac Mini needs its own webcam to do FaceTime and to use other webcam apps
 
There have been quite a few threads on this in this forum, just do a search.

The Logitech cameras work fine. So do old iSight camera's, although the resolution isn't as high as a newer camera.
 
I will go with.....

Logitech cameras. Currently, I think they make the Webcam C270 and C525, C310, C615 and C920. Check out what is better for your uses/budget, because some go up to 1080p video. Having said the above, the software can be cumbersome. And check the Logitech website about support/compatibility:):apple:

I used this one on my last deployment to Afghan and it worked very well for me. Logitech webcam
If you have a decent WiFi connection this should be a great picture.

Webcam for the 2012 Mac Mini

Can anybody suggest a good webcam that is mac compatible and works out of box?
