Hey everyone,
I want to have my iWeb site in the public domain without payin for .mac. Here's what i need:
easy acsess to upload my whole site at one time, without hassles. (FTP?)

a domain name or at least a subdomain

no ads or participation in various forums and offers required

Good bandwidth (not quite essential because i already host my podcast at ourmedia and use feedburner to use it with itunes, but whatever)

password protection (again, not essential, but would be nice, otherwise, i could put in my own password protection via html)

and that's basically it.

thanks a billion!

doing a search would be great as this has been covered many many many times

i use ASO

asmallorange.com

I spend only 50 a month for a VPS from them

ITASOR, here on the boards, hosts my sites. Great guy to work with.

Both my sites are in iWeb and take less than 5MB, I only have 150MB to use, and that's more than enough

$30 a year.

that is really cool, but i need free!
i dont use credit card online, i almost had identity theft from ebay once, and that was no fun!!

i dont have a credit card

your not going to get good bandwidth for free, your not going to get no ads for free, your not going to get a domain name for free

ok, scrap the bandwidth and domain part

this is what i want: enough bandwidth to serve my iWeb site with not much media (i think the whole site is about 40 megs) to a limited number of people
(this is a personal site with all pages being password protected except for possibly a single public page)
and a domain name would only be needed for a professional site for my fledling computer company, which is not the aim of thi, so only subdomain needed for now, i guess.

EASE OF USE IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! MUST BE EASY TO USE WITH iWEB!!!
THANKS A BILLION!!!!!!

With hosting, you get what you pay for.

If you don't want to use a credit card online, go to an Apple store and buy a .Mac subscription, you'll get hosting with your .Mac account.

I think if you're starting a company (or just making the first site for your company) you could invest a few $ to get a real domain and hosting instead of trying to get by with a free unreliable one. Just my opinion. :)

unfortunately, ambitiouslemon is making server changes. i tried using teccion, but i found no where to sign up for their free plan. ambitious lemon's idea of free webserving to artists, students, and open source/freeware *nix/mac developers is really cool as i am all three!
anyone know of other services like ambitiouslemon there are or how to sign up for teccion's free plan, or any of their plans?
thanks!

Not realy sure... i use Omega
www.o-wh.com,
They are never down, the owner is always a quick e-mail or IM away, and its $5 A month for 25GB and 250GB of bandwith

There are a few places, but not many... www.freewebtown.com maybe?

geez, that's awesome!! i don't actually need that much space. a priority would be having my own domain name, but geez! that is really cool!

still, my absolute highest priority is havong hosting be FREE!

thanks for info on omega, though. it seems really cool!

Thanks, I've signed up, and I've gotten an email (sent at 5:30 on April 14) saying that my request will be processed in 24-48 hours. That means I'll be on the net in about 50 minutes from the time I write this post! Cool!

Pianodude123-I remember you saying earlier that if my site is "active," ads can be taken off.

What exactly sanctions "active" in the terms of teccion hosting?

Thank you teccion hosting!
