Why do some sites ask if you want to have your name and password saved and most don't?

Websites that ask to save name & password

Its the preference of the site. Sites that require much more security (e.g. banks) sometimes won't allow you to remember your username and password because accounts would become compromised too easily. Whereas social networking sites usually allow it based on looser security and access frequency.
