Wednesday MBA Release

So, with the rumor (https://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/11/new-macbook-air-due-this-wednesday/) comes a few questions.

1st: Why would the MBA be released on a Wednesday based rumor, if another article just stated that 2010 MBA's are still being shipped in the final orders with production starting on new models?

2nd: How come people dont think this Wednesday will be a Back to School promotion meeting. (Tuesday night is a supposed retail-meeting)

Wouldn't it make sense to have TB on all the machines?

My prediction is the MB will be updated for students. The Airs maybe at end of July or later.

Oh yeah, the MBP 13 has always been the little runt that cut..

I don't understand, if they release a new macbook air wouldn't it make sense to put an advertisement for it in the window?

Personally I am hoping for new MBA and window advertisement for free ipod touch with purchase for students. The back to school promotion is usually around this time. Its actually late compared to last year i think. If so, it would confirm all that I have written on these forums about the MBA being much better margin for Apple than MBPs and them looking to target the MBA at students for this reason and to lock them into proprietary hardware. Apple loves making you buy a whole new machine just to upgrade storage or something.

If its released on the Wednesday, the its probably going to be available for purchase.... on the Wednesday.

Sometimes there is a delay in the refresh in america and a release overseas hence his asking for a UK release. I personally have no idea what the overseas release timeframe usually looks like, but maybe someone does.

Yeah thats why i asked about the uk specific... I really appreciate the last and this answers though

With the Macs the release is at the same time. Its only ever with things like the iPhone and iPad that its staggered.

Update 3: It seems Chronicwire was also confused about those same part numbers. In an update:

CORRECTION: Source had mixed up part numbers, it is unlocked iPhones that will be headed to US Apple Stores for Wednesday, NOT MacBook Airs.

I'd expect more of a stealth update store goes down, we look at website notice it has a different processor and wait for retail stores to get them. This may be a big deal to you but it doesn't matter to most people. Plus I think the good money will be spent on refurb Late 2010 models if there is an update.

Personally, I think Wednesday is the Back to School sale more than anything. It makes sense: just as the Back to School free ipod promo helps move current ipod models in time for a new September model, it also helps move the current Air models, perhaps in time for a July-refresh. Supplies for Airs seem to be constraining also, and there are very recent stories of production ramping up for the new Airs--I don't think they'd have done it in time for Wednesday. I expect late June or July refresh (before Lion).

However, I'll be happily surprised if Weds sees Air refresh alongside the B2S promo.

Chronicwire said that he mixed up the numbers, and that the numbers showed an iphone release, that doesn't mean there won't be a MBA release. It just means that those numbers were for the iphone.
