Just received a week 11, 27 inch I7. Absolutely no evidence of yellow tinging and a noiseless hard drive. Gray bar test passed with no yellow in evidence from top to bottom and side to side.:D

that's great.

there was still slight yellowing on my week 11, but not enough for me to return it.

Lucky you. my week 11 has terrible back-light bleeding and yellow tinge:(

Week 11 Thread...sweet

Received my THIRD iMac 27 i7 in (in three weeks).

This second replacement is miles better than my first replacement which had huge grey bar and a yellow cast.

Now the yellow cast was not that sever on the second machine, so I thought.
I got an advanced replacement so I had the third machine which I use booted next to my initial replaced machine.

I didn't realize how YELLOW the first replacement was!
My second replacement is much better, and very white which is outstanding.

HOWEVER, I still have a faint gray bar spanning the entire screen where the dock is like my first replacement although it is much fainter (there are actually two and they are spaced out a bit so the bright white shines in between them)

I have begun loading my stuff on this machine already, so it seems like I am keeping it, but I am unhappy that I still have problems.
I really need a MBP, but I just don't want to give up on this 27". I hope I don't regret this.
Its only Day 2 with my third iMac (2nd replacement) so I will give it a chance, but things are looking up.
Although I won't say its PERFECT, its very very good. :)

I did notice yesterday though, on very low brightness, the screen flickers. It's not consistent, but it is definitely a flicker. And that sort of pisses me off because I forgot that was even an issue. If it appears on mid brightness or high brightness I will have to contemplate another return.

I will post pictures later.

First replacement on LEFT

Current Machine (3rd overall) on RIGHT

I copied and pasted the Lower Bar on the new machine to compare to the rest.
Bars noted with the X are the SAME.

Ignore the duplicate picture on the far left of the frame.

the pic on the right looks about like mine. You can tell a difference in the top and bottom bars but it's rather subtle and you aren't likely to ever notice it unless you specifically look.

man that first one was horrible.

Its true, but again, I am concerned about how its going to look in 1 year, 2 years...

The first one was the replacement too!

There will be no difference in 1 to 2 years. It's a panel variance, and it never gets worse. Anyone who says otherwise is talking poop.

Just for the sake of posting a positive experience, I've ordered an I7 on the 16th, arrived yesterday.
So far it's a keeper. No major screen issues, flickering or yellow crap. With full bright white screen I notice a very slight grayish horizontal bar on the lower part of the screen, but it's unnoticeable under normal use. I have to move around with different viewing angles, full white screen and blink my eyes a few times to actually be able to spot it.

Overall great mac, fast shipping, cool stuff.

All these problems remind me of the issues I had with a 17" Sony CRT monitor back in the 90's. I returned it to the Good Guys store 3 times for replacements before they said I had to deal with Sony directly, it was very frustrating. Then the same thing happened with a 17" Mitsubishi monitor.
