Hey - I have a week 39 iPhone. I was able to jailbreak and use wifi, ipod, etc., but I always kept getting a NO SIM error. I could never do the *#307# hack -- I'd always get a NO SIM error then too.

I thought, stupid of me, that maybe 1.1.3 would allow me to hack it a different way, but no. Now, I can't downgrade my firmware. I get an error (1) in iTunes.

Any ideas?

I can't virginize with iDemocracy (on my PC) or use iNdependence (Mac) because I can't connect to wifi, thus giving me an IP needed for the application to work.

Did you upgrade with iTunes?

If so, you currently have to downgrade the bootloader to downgrade the baseband, which requires disassembling your phone and a delecate procedure. See this link: http://iphone.unlock.no/bootloader_downgrade.htm

I wouldn't have the stomach for it myself. You may just have to wait a
little while. Perhaps there will be a solution after the SDK is released.

Edit: Sorry, you said week 39. You may already have the old bootloader. Was your phone 1.1.1 OOTB?

Got it to work. So -- I got the iPhone to the home screen where it says slide for emergency. Connect the iPhone to the computer. Make sure iTunes is open.

Next, hold down home + sleep till it shuts down. When it shuts down, let go of the sleep button but *Still* press the home button in. This will trigger iTunes to recognize the phone in boot mode. The screen on the iPhone should be black. If the little iPod cable + iTunes logo appear, you haven't done it right. The iPod screen needs to be black.

Once iTunes prompts you to restore, do the shift (or Option on Mac) Restore and select the older firmware that works. I was able to go back down to 1.0.2 with no problems.
