OK, So I like close quarters intimate landscapes at the moment. I love interesting abstract shapes and colour so the task this week is to post images that are tight framed but which capture the beauty of winter where you are. So a misty breath escaping from someone out in the cold or cold hands grasping warm coffee in fingerless gloves (northern hemisphere) or something suggesting Christmas in the sunshine for example – no santa hats and bikinis! (southern hemisphere).

The usual rules apply:

· The photographs must be your own work.

· Be creative and have fun.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

· The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!

· At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

I was born in southern Oklahoma in mid-August. I do NOT want to have an intimate relationship with winter. I think I have something holiday related. But winter...... I'm with AFB.

A placeholder, it's the most festive shot I've taken recently! I'll see what I can come up with that's better over the next few days.

As a landscape, you expect this to be an outdoors image?

I dont expect anything :)

I am looking for tight framed, something that suggests winter, something intimate in that it is close quarters. Not steering the witness here but your image we discussed yesterday and you told me of holding cameras up high... was what gave me the idea....

Just sayin'

I you google intimate landscape you will get loads of examples. It is a term brought to my knowledge by Colin Prior. Before that I called it pictures of stuff lying round... :)

So I merged it and tried for Intimate Winter. So something tight framed i.e. not big wide vistas, but that communicates winter. Now not everywhere has the same weather this time of year so we should see some variation. It can be outside or in. It cant talk to warm weather or cold weather. It can be Christmas themed or not... I am thinking something close up, not macro - intimate...

Hope that helps.

What a lovely maternal looking lady (hope that doesnt offend) such a gentleness to the face. Lovely image but you can do better than this in terms of fitting the brief... :)

Ok, so I'll finish last, but this one fits, I think...

OK I am starting to coach folks so I will have to stop. I am being naughty...

On this one, why not get in less of the car, get the steam rising from the grill or the ise formations on the wing mirror.

I guess i am saying too wide... have another bash and less of the last place chat!

Okay thanks. I actually took some last night that will likely fit the bill, but haven’t had time to take them off the camera yet. :) sometimes my scrapbook vision comes in handy.
