This week's contest theme is "Summer Heat", interpret any way you like !

The usual rules apply:

· The photographs must be your own work.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.

· This contest runs for one week, starting now.

· At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

Could someone please update the Weekly Contest Master thread?

Oh, oh! I won't be able to participate because it's still cool in the interior of Alaska where I live. The outdoors thermometers show 60 degrees at the moment, then at night the temperature drops to the high 40's F. (5's C. at night/15's C. during the day).

Well, there is another whole area of the world where right now it is NOT summertime -- for those folks Down Under and such, July is actually winter! Nonetheless, I'm sure that just as Molly suggests above, anyone who wants to enter this week's competition who is not actually in the midst of summertime and/or a current heatwave will still be able to find an image from their archives to share....

It's the middle of summer in the interior of Alaska. But Molly is correct about using archived photos.

Yes, of course I am well aware that Alaska is part of the US and therefore in the midst of summertime in terms of the calendar even if not nearly as hot as most other parts of this country are, but I was just gently adding a reminder that there are other members of this site who live "Down Under" whose weather conditions are exactly the opposite of summertime right now, but indeed they can participate in this contest, too, by sharing their archived photos from their own summertime -- it would be rather cool to see a photo or two of snow and ice that someone has experienced in the middle of July on another continent! Or to fully match the theme they can focus on the heat aspect of this and share photos from what are our winter months and show hot weather in December, January or February....

Of course right now I'm sure that there are folks from Europe and the UK who have been maybe capturing a few photos along the way these last few days as they've been experiencing extraordinarily hot and unusual conditions this summer.

Forget the archive. Summer at 60 degrees and make everyone jealous. I do it during the winter in Fl, with everyone snowed in, posting my day at the beach.😀

It had been warmer about three weeks ago, but it is cool now. Summer temperatures in the high 80's F. are normal in the interior of Alaska, but some times we experience cool and rainy summers like this one. The rainy season usually happens by August, so it feels more like August the July :)

Thanks to all who participated this week.

@tizeye – nice beach scene seeing the masses wade in

@Strider64 – topical shot, that unit probably needs a good clean to maintain the high efficiency moniker

@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 – fantastic sunset shot, you can feel the warmth

@Snowlover – now this shot exudes summer heat, pup seems downright happy

@Janichsan – wonderful capture, crisp detail and pleasing framing, like they are striving for the sun

@OldMacs4Me – great shot, love the natural layering of light throughout the whole frame

Here are my top three …
