Weekly Photo Contest: April 13-20 | Solitude

So the topic this week is - Solitude. Continuing on these quarantine themed contests (as I imagine we will be for a while...). Hopefully it should be easy to photograph while staying sufficiently distanced from anyone else!

Rules as follows:

· Follow all relevant local laws regarding stay-at-home orders. If you can't go outside, try and take a photo at home or grab one from the archives.

· Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.

· The photographs must be your own work.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.

· At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

@akash.nu Looks like a super vibrant place! Definitely gives that feeling of just being in nature.

@oblomow Definitely out in the middle of nowhere there! We just got lots of snow here, but of course shouldn't go out exploring I have to keep reminding myself that there will be another winter to enjoy soon enough!

@deep diver Nice contrast there. The church in the background and yet only one person in frame is nice.

@tizeye Nice and relaxing! As long as the gator isn't hungry at least...

@someoldguy Looks super peaceful! No clouds, still water, and nobody around (except the photographer of course!). Is that the Rockies? Seems to have that look.

@splifingate Not just is the little dino all alone, you're probably enjoying the quiet too! Seems like a good way to keep creative without being able to go near other people right now too.

@mollyc A good day for the beach! Just the sounds of the water and nobody else around. Certainly seems like solitude to me!

@redshifted If this contest were six months ago, I'd be sitting here wondering how that fits the theme. But of course, it's not! I really like the tone captured there! It seems to capture the mood of the day, where even just going to the store feels alone.

Thanks for the second! And congrats to the others who placed . My entry was taken off the Tioga Pass road (CA 120) heading west from Lee Vining Ca. toward the eastern entrance to Yosemite . The blue sky/lake caught my eye as I was driving , so pulled over to see if I could get a decent image . Didn't see the guy fishing until I went down the embankment from the road a bit .

Congratulations to everyone.
That was actually my wife relaxing as I went off exploring. Upon return saw the photo op. It is quite normal to see gators that 'up close and personal' with no barriers. They leave you alone and the only time to really get concerned and back off is when they begin hissing. In all my time out there, it has only happened twice...including another gator about 50' back before I took that picture. Got closer than he wanted me to.
