In lieu of Diggerfish, who unfortunately cannot set the topic for this weeks contest, I'm setting the theme as "Any Old Iron". For those who can remember the old song, it relates to scrap but for the contest this week I'd like it to relate to old things, particularly things that were or are functional, and that are essentially made of metal, particularly a ferrous metal.

Good luck and looking forward to the usual bevy of high quality and imaginative takes on the theme.

The rules are as per normal:

· The photographs must be your own work.

· Be creative and have fun.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

· The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!

· At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Winners please update the Weekly Photo Contest Master thread

I changed my mind, this is continuing my Jurassic Coast theme at the moment, a lifting crane on the end of Portland by the lighthouse. Somewhat different weather than what we have had recently!

Shooting with a tripod is very different from other shooting. Makes you take your time and consider your composition more which is generally a good thing.
Yep I agree I've been learning a lot with it. I like that I find new spots and get to explore the town like this spot I probably would have never bothered venturing to if I wasn't going to take the time to set something up. It's a really nice relaxing spot though so I can always head on back if I need a break.

Someone also let me use a go pro for my last trip and I really liked clipping it onto the tripod it gets a different perspective than the camera. You get a sense of the sounds and feel of a place and I just kind of clip it on and let it run while I set up and shoot. I really think the videos complement the pictures in a nice way and sometimes come out really nice even if the shot doesn't end up all that great.

Competition is now closed. Thanks and well-done to everyone who entered - I'll get back with comments later today.

Why now closed? It is still Sept 6th, isn't it?
[doublepost=1504686253][/doublepost]I took this picture with the contest in mind. Maybe you can consider it. I thought I had some more time for posting...
