So as Summer seems to be turning to Autumn (well temperatures at least!) around here I thought we could explore the subject of transformation.
Can be in nature like a bud turning to flower or a butterfly emerging, or even at the other end of the cycle and withering away.
Outside of nature it can be anything you like. Just as long as it covers the theme.

Please no selfies for those of you thinking it would be a good idea! :p

The rules are the same as usual -

· The photographs must be your own work.

· Be creative and have fun.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

· The contest runs for a week and starts now!

· At the end of the week, last week’s winner will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the winner is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

· The 1st place winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you post a new contest.

Well you could always get a film shot scanned and join in!
Scanning film to digital fulfills the theme all by itself.

Awesome topic. Although not sure I’ll find anything to post this week! I’m off to Rome for the weekend, might find something there. Fingers crossed

As promised, this is one from my trip to Rome this weekend. The minute I looked at this view I thought of the competition this week. There is over 2000 years of transformation right here.

The red bricks ruins is from the time of the Roman Empire then the dome structures are from the time when the pope was all powerful, just after the time of Constantine when Christianity became prevalent and finally the building I’m taking the picture from is the most modern change, the Altare Della patria, completed in 1935.

Okay guys and girls here's the moment I've been dreading all week.

Please don't be offended by my comments and feel free to ignore them. They are after all just my opinions and I'm just a hobbiest.

@mollyc A transformation I hadn’t even thought of! Lovely shot and the silhouetted couple make it for me. My only criticism is the horizon is slopping upwards on the left a fraction. Great start.

@Somepix I like the idea but two things I would change. The tip of the big leaf is just a bit too close to the edge of the frame. Also the image does look a tad underexposed.

@deep diver Nice idea! Looks like you were thinking about the transformation that takes place on my lawn all too often! You could have blown them as you took the shot for a bit of movement. But I like the back lighting.

@Darmok N Jalad Emerging tree blossoms. Mine never materialised this year. I like it. A different angle may have looked better without the out of focus branch behind. It does provide a bit of a distraction to my eye.

@cogi0490 I’m guessing this was shot around mid day? The harsh sunlight gives that impression. I like the backlit petals, but think a tighter composition might have worked a little better.

@Hughmac On the rare occasions I venture out at sunset, its never a good one. Of course tonights was stunning as I washed up. Anyway I think it is fairly drastic for a sky. But where are the mods and rockers?

@oblomow Lovely range of pastel colours and your daughter ads some scale and interest. Nicely done.

@akash.nu Rome is a beautiful city. Beautiful architecture. I would lose the tile on the right and something looks a bit off in the sky. My guess was you did a bit of dodging in PP? Other than that a beautiful scene.

@triptolemus Thats an awesome concept for the theme! Those things really transform the landscape! Love it.

@tizeye You really going to post Microsoft stuff not only in an Apple forum but in a competition hosted by Apple fanboy? :p Anyway Nicely laid out and a good idea that’s not very obvious.

Okay so now the hard bit!

3rd Place goes to @triptolemus

2nd Place goes to @mollyc and @Hughmac

1st Place goes to @oblomow
