Given the recent discussion thread concerning to what extent photographic image manipulation can be considered as a lie, I thought it would be interesting to see what 'lies' you can come up with. I was looking for a topic that can be done without the need to get out and about so the remit is relatively broad but in particular I'm looking for false perspective and trompe-l'oeil examples. Not looking for composite or photomontage entries unless they really impress me (or you get away with it because they are actually convincing)...

Standard rules apply.

Follow all relevant local laws regarding stay-at-home orders. If you can't go outside, try and take a photo at home or grab one from the archives.
  • Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.
  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.
  • At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
Contest will end at 18:00 (UK) on Friday 27th November.

Here's one I prepared earlier to get you thinking:

Love Under the Autumn Moon

I'll be brave.

I did this for a photo group assignment to capture abstract images. This image of the moon was created in the lens. It was not taken with a lens designed to manipulate the image (such as mollyc's beloved Lens Baby). It was taken with my beloved daguerreotype lens. The only post processing was to bump up the brightness just a little bit, and crop.

if someone enters an image that has a lot of cloning or compositing should we show the SOOC?

Nature Reserve allows personal photos/video, but permit fee for commercial photo/video...so out comes the paint brush.

Sorry, I have nothing. What I was trying to do didn't work out :(

Cheers :)

Never mind @Hughmac, there's always next week...

Closed now. Will try to get back with some comments on Saturday but things are a bit hectic at the moment so comments may be more curtailed than normal. Thanks everyone.
