OK, As we approach Mollyc’s favourite holiday. Let’s have a subtle nod to the day. Rather than go for something obviously Valentine related, I am trying to think of something a little more abstract or on a tangent from it.

So this week's competition is to show us a natural pattern. When we look in nature, we see patterns everywhere. The link to Valentines is of course the pattern of petals on a rose or flowers in general. The power of odds is a lesser known recommendation of composition. An odd number of subjects in the frame feel more powerful than an even number. We see patterns everywhere around us.

So interpret this as you wish but go out and find patterns either natural or man made. Either is fine but remember standard rules apply:

  • Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced. In keeping with our most recent tradition, violators may be awarded first place. Henceforth this shall be known as the Molly-ing rule in honour of our friend and fellow perpetrator.
  • The photographs must be your own work. Obviously the subject doesn’t however have to be your own work.
  • This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, Clue is in the title.
  • At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Competition ends Noon UK time February 18.
Have some fun everyone. Even if you don’t feel you have a winner, post anyway. The goal is to expand your perspective and maybe try something new.

Photographers….. you have until the 18th…. GO!

I deleted my like

It is in deed all in fun. The no like rule is so that the judge can be pure of heart and free of influence. However, as @mollyc states, accidental repeat offences has meant we need to have a rule that when it happens, you run the risk of running the next competition. For some reason that seems to be the most effective deterrent for trigger happy likers.
