This week's contest is to share a picture that tells a story.
Add a sentence or two as a caption or intro.
It can be a real or imagined story, serious or funny, historic or contemporary.
Use your imagination as story tellers with cameras.
As an example:
Once upon a time there were two sisters, one was an elf ...

Rules as follows:

· Do not comment, vote, react, or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.

· The photographs must be your own work.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· This contest runs for one week, if in doubt, check the dates in the title.

· At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

Have fun and share your stories with us!

I'll like to put up something to fill int he numbers, but I just do not have the time. I've been slammed at work for several weeks and it will go on for another several weeks. I miss participating, but I will be back.

Oaky. Here's half of a retraction. I'm filling out the numbers but I still have to take myself out of the running.

Once upon a time........

I apologize for the choice of the weekly contest theme.
Clearly it is an epic fail.

Unfortunately, while I have one fairly recent shot which would really suit this theme, I do not feel comfortable using it because it involves a shot of people, one a child, and since I do not know the individuals in the photo, had no way to easily talk with them at the time and therefore do not have permission to put the image depicting them up on the internet on a very popular and well-viewed site, I am abstaining from this particular competition.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes people are just too busy too participate.
It is an interesting theme. Difficult though as Clix Pix pointed out. It is hard to avoid people shots, if you want to tell a fairy tale story. And I also don't like to post people shots.

No need to apologize as was a great theme...I just never had the time to go through my box of slides. Had one from a couple years ago, but had deteriorated further and preferred the version from the 1980's. Had a good storyline. Returning to local rule after the death of the conquering Viking king, in the 1100's a grand Priory emerged...until the Reformation in 1520.

I owned a house on the outer grounds of the Priory which historically would have been cropland supporting the population. Never happened to me, but neighbors would occasionally unearth human remains, uncertain if that was a cemetery for commoners (nobility inside the cathedral) or casualties from the earlier Anglo-Saxon/Viking battlefield about 100m away.

(Google maps - my home was 7 Canons Close, Thetford, UK...Priory remains across the Little Ouse River, as well as a small outbuilding in my neighborhood. Viking battlefield is the wooded area to the north across street from what is now an open field)

Congrats to the other podium placers , and thanks for the 3rd ...

The story continues...
The horse goes up to the bartender and says ' give me a beer' .
The bartender says "Just a minute" and walks into the back room where the bar's owner is . " I got a horse at the bar , he wants a beer , what do I do?"
The owner replies " Give him the beer , but charge him double . Horses have no clue as to what beer costs"
So the bartender gives the horse a beer . After doing so , he says 'We don't get too many horses in here "
The horse replies " Considering what you charge for beer , I can see why "
