The theme for this week’s contest is “Leading Lines”.

One of the key concepts of composition is that of leading lines, lines that draw the viewer into the image. This week I want you to go out and take an image that demonstrates the power of leading lines in adding depth and dynamism to an image.

  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • Be creative and have fun.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!
  • At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
To get the creative juices flowing here are some of my mediocre examples of that I am talking about:

Oh dear, what have I done... this is already shaping up to be one of those where making the entries was the easier bit... choosing between them the hard bit...

had to dive in the deepest, darkest, murkiest waters of my archive to retrieve this bottom feeding dweller of what would pass as "barely acceptable"

I really want to say you are right... just for the hell of it... but I dont want the new members of our group feeling intimidated if I am calling rubbish on something of this calibre... even jokingly...

:p

Get it back in there

Nah, I'm going to hang out in the Daily Photo threads and look for critique over there. No point to unnecessarily putting the judges in the corner with having to deal with more "This is a snap shot. Nothing special about the picture." material.

Your call as long as you are not feeling intimidated... trust me when I say this, we are friendly we will not humiliate you and I for one was ROTTEN.. I mean SHOCKING when I came here... some would argue that I havent progressed much from then... so I would encourage you to submit and I promise I will not give anything other than encouragement and critique with a view to helping you nail your vision.

In fact, at the top of the forums, you will see a master list of competitions... take a wander through that and you will see that the critiques are not "thats a snap shot".

Your call, cool regardless, just promise you wont walk away because you dont feel like you are welcome ok???

I'm sorry but I don't remember your submission as being just a snapshot; please reconsider.

I have only entered my particular photo because it has some leading lines in it, but I'm not sure it completely fits the bill.
However, we need to keep these judges busy by putting entries in, so currently it is holding a place until I can take something more suitable (or not ).

Cheers :)

Well - it seems you are referring to my comment on @soulreaver99 picture on the last contest. Let me assure you the last thing I wanted to do is discourage people from participating. Nothing could be more wrong. It is a photography contest so and it is quite hard to give an honest feedback sometimes. Please remember only the picture that is there to be seen is judged and never the person who posted it.
