For the past five weeks I’ve been working on the World Cup, so I had some difficulties in coming up with a subject that’s not football. I’m quite fed up with it already, so I decided I have to. The first non-ball thing that I could think about was a cube. That wasn’t good enough. But the second one was beer. After the Cro-Eng game I was trying to connect the dots between the beer people were throwing in the air and photography, and there is an abvious one: filter! So, this weeks subject is FILTERED.

Now, don’t go using those cheap instafilters or any other post-process filters! I want something more creative. As long as there’s something filtered, be it light, beer or the photo itself, it’s fine.

· You may only submit one photo per challenge and the photograph must be your own work.
· Be creative, and have fun!
· The challenge runs for a week and starts now.
· At the end of the week, The Judge (me) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo. I will try to offer some feedback.
· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place

· Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you post the next round.

I’ve got a good one for this week.

Extra point for guessing what I used to catch this one. Just to confirm - No software filter.

spot on! Is the sunglasses thing that obvious?!
It's an idea I have shared with a few of my Mindful Photography participants, as something easy to do when they are at the beach without a camera, but have their phones with them. So I've seen it in application, with blue, orange, yellow, pink, violet and even green tints applied, when they have showed me their interesting results!

Philadelphia.
Hale Farm & Village is a reconstructed late 18th and early 19th century property of the Western reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, OH.

This was shot in B&W through an orange filter on a Daguerreotype lens using a wide aperture lumiere Waterhouse aperture plate. While I did not anticipate it, the result of this combination yielded a period appropriate wet plate effect. Other than cropping, there was no post processing of this image.

Have been out taking images today, here's one with a 13 stopper to add to Hugh's ND filter effort above! I actually love the movement of the Cormorants here and how it's made them slightly surreal.

Canon 6D, Canon 24-105mm f/4 L, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest 13 Stop ND, Bulb Mode, Multi-segment Metering
ISO 100, 105mm, f/5.6, 33 seconds

All right, so here are the top three for this week!

Your weird and innovative shot I think deserves the third spot in this week's competetion!

I agree. Some of the birds seem normal, some don't. It adds to the image. For the mystical birds, second place.

This is the winner here! The effort alone makes it most interesting. I must educate myself on the technique. Congrats!

Sorry for not commenting on all the entries, I'm running late on everything - AGAIN! You all deserve a triple-filtered beverage!

On to you, @deep diver

Wow. I did not expect this. Thank you. That image was taken on my first outing with that lens. I was doing a lot of experimenting with various filters and aperture plates.

There were fewer images than usual this week, but they are all really good. (Except the beer picture. I brew my own. I just don't understand the appeal of Stella Artois.) Congrats to akash.nu and Alex.

I think I have an idea already. I will have the new contest up sometime today.

Congrats for the win!
