So it's summer ( at least in the Northern Hemisphere ) and lawns , trees , gardens , weeds are all at their peak , so this week's theme is Green . Entries should have green as either the subject or predominant color . Foliage/plant life is not necessary , just the color green .
Be creative and have fun!!

Contest runs until around 12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time ( NYC time)

As always, standard rules apply:
  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • This contest runs for about a week, starting now
  • At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

Just the usual disclaimer : This thing's being judged by an old fart with bifocals and cataracts ; your opinion may ( probably will) differ .
So , here we go ....

@piatigorsky : Nicely done with film and a vintage Nikon . Lots of green , interesting film grain . What kind of plant is the subject? Looks like it might be Thai Basil ?

@coolguy4747 : Another film guy ! This time with medium format . Not too much green here , save for the dancing dots , and possibly the contents of the mystery bottle next to the Inspiro . Bit green with envy over that Bourbon list , though .

@Strider64 : Nice shot ! I'm assuming it's a green heron . What makes the image , for me at least , is the reflections on the water , and how the bird stands out from the background.

@lkalliance : Great shot . Got the green on the shirt and the parakeet . What a happy little kid ! What triggered the smiles? A chance landing , or maybe a talking bird ?

@C0ncreteBl0nde : Nicely composed ! And green ! (Did you have this stuff around or did you go around annoying neighbors?)I suspect you took some time setting all this up!

@mtbdudex : There's something kinda surreal about this image . The mossy trees ; and particularly the background behind the trees , it's almost like there is some sort of giant impressionist watercolor was put up behind them .

@Janichsan : Iguana? Yours ? Sure is green . Nice job catching all the details on the skin , and you got the eye details nice and clear . The only downside is the yellow blob (leaf?) . But if you moved it , probably the lizard would be gone .

@Apple_Glen_UK : Giant green guy with a big nose . Overseeing a railway station?
Nice job using selective B&W . Don't think I'd have thought of it . Makes the head pop right out .

@mollyc : Not quite big enough to be someone's private island . You were there at just the right time when the sun illuminated the island and turned the shallows neon while the background was less lit .

So ... Guess I've gotta decide . It's harder than I thought having viewed the contest's progression on a mundane Windows laptop and then viewing them on a 30" color calibrated monitor . BIG difference in what you see !

3rd Place : @piatigorsky

2nd Place : @lkalliance

1st Place : @C0ncreteBl0nde

Over to you @C0ncreteBl0nde !

Holy cats! I didn't expect this. Congratulations to @piatigorsky and @lkalliance (I adore your photo). No, I didn't have to borrow any of the items in my photo, I am an "Office Depot or Staples Geek/Freak". I have a thing for office supplies...pens, paper, stickies, etc. Except for my daughter I never knew there were other people like me in this manner, but recently discovered a whole group of them on social media.

I almost didn't submit this photo even after setting it up and shooting it, etc. Thank you for choosing it for first place. I will give the next theme some thought and have something up tomorrow. Thank you for a fun contest @someoldguy .

It's literally a Green Lizard - that's really the name of the species. Not mine, but in a zoo. I guess they would have protested if had started to rearrange the terrarium. ;)

This was taken in Germany at Lake Eibsee, where the water really is that color!

My daughter was just getting used to interacting with the bird, so there was just a lot of excitement when I suddenly placed Blue there. :)

Thanks for this week’s contest!

It's been a busy few days for me, so I haven't had time to reply sooner. Thanks for the podium finish, and in terms of the plant, unfortunately I don't know—I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to recognizing the plants and birds I see on my hikes!
