I couldn't come up with a theme to follow on from last weeks theme of "Mirrors", so I've decided to go back a fortnight and follow on from the theme of "Smoke," therefore, it has to move on to Fire for this week!

Show me fire, literally or through interpretation, I'll leave it open to you as to what you present me for consideration.

Those flaming rules:

· You can only submit one piping hot photo per contest and that image must be of your own creation.
· Set your creativity alight and explore the theme to its fullest according to how you interpret it. Have fun with it or make it a struggle, that's irrelevant really. Just make it radiant.
· On your marks, get set, fire it off. You have a week to create your scorching effort.
· At the end of the week, the judgement shall be imposed, whereupon I shall endeavour to illuminate some sort of placements and maybe even provide some light on your entries through my opinion.
· The brightest spark will resurrect this thread in their own vein like a phoenix resurrecting from the flames, starting a new thread with the topic/theme of their desire, and shall henceforth act as the judgement bringer for that round. (The victor has 2 days to create their new theme, after that it shall automatically defer to the next podium placee.)

· Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you post the next round.

Some ideas of possible interpretations to light your fuses...

Kicking this one off.

This is called a Diya. A type of oil lamp used in almost every Indian religious rituals. These things are considered holy and a portion of the God of Fire - Agni.

This comes from the Vedas where the basic composition of the whole universe is considered to be the following -

- Air
- Water
- Earth
- Fire
- Space

Very bold of you to start the new theme and the dad jokes all in one post. Well played.

A fabulously diverse range of entries thus far, hot stuff indeed!

No one is getting on board with the dad jokes. It looks like your efforts might crash and burn. Just be careful not to take it so far that you make an ash of yourself. Please accept these thoughts as they are meant. I don't want to spark any ill will now that I'll have to make right ladder.
I remEMBER a time that dad jokes were not part of this forum. It's nice to have something to do while waiting for Judgement Day.

Alright folks, I'm gonna stoke the last of the glowing embers and put this one out in the next hour. A bit early I know, but I've got other things to get on with this morning.

Okay folks, I'll keep it short and quick, as I'm in the middle of a million other things right now.

I love the Spiritual reverence to this. A great way to kick it off!

I think I will go with an abstract interpretation. I will play my messed up accidental shot that actually got saved - waters of fire shot...

Whilst I love the shot for its creativity, I'm not feeling "Fire" here, Ken. Sorry to say.

This is as close to real fire as I dare indoors.

Smokin'! Artfully done. You are lucky to work with the dancers you get to capture!

This may get swapped, but most likely not.....

That is very intense in its orange tones, Molly, but again, I'm not really feeling the "Fire" here. Sorry to say.

A clever and somewhat poignant interpretation of the theme!

Okay then...

Sometime back in 2012 when I first got into digital cameras. An event called Tribal Burn. Lots of bellydancers, fire dancers, and this fellow. Shot from too far away with a 35mm f1.8. I didn't know what I was doing..... but it turned out okay.

This one got me to go "oooh!," but I do have a fascination with Fire Poi and Fire Throwing.

Abstract Fire Flames by Chris Roth, auf Flickr

We had barbecue today and so I had a chance to get in contact with some fire
I love the detail and colour here!

Apologies to mollyc for a similar shot, but Alex needs more to do...

Cheers :)

Fabulously intense sky colours again, but not really igniting my inner "Fire" need. Sorry to say.
The sheep on the right looks like you just uttered the word "BBQ" to it...

I did say I'd have to keep it short, and keep in mind these are just my thoughts and reactions to the images presented, and in that light, no offence should be taken.

So on the podium are Chris, Chris and Mikko for this round! Well done to all that entered, there was some lovely imagery for me to admire all round.

Bronze - @stillcrazyman
Silver - @cogi0490
Gold - @Robotti

Over to you, Mikko!

Well done everyone. Sorry for no entry this week, but mum said I can't play with matches anymore!
