This week's contest is about Food & Drink. Recognising that coronavirus may keep a lot of people more indoors than the weather would allow, the theme is something that can be readily done without venturing out. Anything to do with food and/or drink; from cooking through to serving and consumption.

Rules as follows:

· Do not comment, vote, react, or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.

· The photographs must be your own work.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· This contest runs for one week, if in doubt, check the dates in the title.

· At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

Here's one to get the creative juices flowing...

Definitely something new for me. I was in Iceland chasing the northern lights a couple of weeks ago. This was served at a restaurant that served only soup within bread bowls like this. Crazy!

Great entries so far. Today is Mother’s Day in the U.K. so lets see some of those special treats for mums!

Thanks to everyone who took part. Hope you enjoyed the challenge. I've only recently started to photograph 'stuff' rather than landscapes but soon recognised just how difficult this product type photography can be so kudos to you guys for producing such quality entries. Although it seemed easy at face value, the relatively open-ended nature of this kind of challenge makes it hard to find something to focus on.

Please remember that my comments are only my opinions so please don't take anything to heart - it's not a photo-club competition but more of a chance to exercise our creative muscles, have fun and learn in the process.

@akash.nu - the photo really gets across a welcome warm supper after a cold day outdoors. Nice warm tones, great textures and nice use of shallow depth of field. The almost monochrome look also adds a bit of class. Makes me want to get in there and eat.

@deep diver - A photo that encourages the viewer to wonder what the stall holder is arguing/haggling about. Or is it just have a nice day? I'm always impressed when a candid street-style shot is done well (largely since I can't do them). Could be any market in the world and good for it.

@Robotti - love the composition and the drizzle of dressing. Specular highlights on the burger juice look good too. Ready to eat again! BUT, I'm afraid that for my eyes at least, the photo is a bit too blurry for what would otherwise be a winner.

@Apple_Glen_UK - Which one to choose? Or have them all? Nice family photo. A little underexposed but I understand that these are spur of the moment captures, not studio shots.

@tcphoto1 - Classy. Beautifully lit and good use of shallow DoF. Jealous...both for the cocktail and the quality of photo!

@someoldguy - Another street-style market shot. Prices don't look bad to us in the UK! Good capture of the range of colours and textures of the various fish laid out before us. Let down a bit by the lack of any 'story' (see @deep diver comments) that for me bring interest to this sort of capture.

@tizeye - those ribs look good. Ditch the veg and focus on them instead! Seriously, I think it would have been better to concentrate on the ribs and to bring up the exposure on them a bit to reveal their glorious colour and texture, perhaps from a slightly lower angle.

@oblomow - Nicely done candid shot - you can almost see what is going through his mind. Nice shallow DoF keeps the focus on the customer rather than on the relatively sterile glasses and taps.

@cogi0490 - Nicely captured action shot. Sufficient light to give the drops some colour but maintaining the nice rich dark colour of the espresso coffee in the cup. Rich.

Difficult to choose but here goes:

1st place @akash.nu . Captured the mood beautifully and outside of a studio environment.

2nd place @Robotti . Very good technical shot.

3rd place @oblomow . Tells a good, familiar story.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and particularly to the podium trio. Over to you @akash.nu

Wow what the hell?! I didn’t even expect that! OMG! Thanks a lot. Congratulations to all the other winners.

As happy as I am right now I’ve got the dreaded work for this week now! Will be back with a theme soon.

Thanks a lot for the appreciation @anotherscotsman
