Amazingly, this theme has not been posted to date, so your mission this week is:

Refraction
The change in direction of a wave (light in our case) passing from one medium to another or from a gradual change in the medium (wiki)


So go crazy and bend some light waves

In case you thought of cheating, read the rules below

· The photographs must be your own work, no 3rd party creative commons images either.
· Be creative and have fun, as if you had a choice.
· You may only submit one photo per contest, nuff said.
· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place, but spam all you want.
· The contest runs for a week and starts now, well, 2 seconds ago.
· At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible. I will.
· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker. I said I will.
· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place). Good :)

· Please update the Weekly Photo Contest Master List when you post a new contest.

There is not photo attached to either of your posts if you are participating in this challenge. If your photo isn’t related to refraction we also have a photo of the day thread for general sharing.

In addition, one of the rules of these competitions is that there be no discussion of or commentary on any of the entries until after the competition has been completed.

In physics, a photon is usually denoted by the symbol γ (the Greek letter gamma). This symbol for the photon probably derives from gamma rays, which were discovered in 1900 by Paul Villard, named by Ernest Rutherford in 1903, and shown to be a form of electromagnetic radiation in 1914 by Rutherford and Edward Andrade.

Wow. I am truly surprised. This was a last minute thing because I did not want to sit out 2 weeks in a row. The nurse in our clinic looked at me very skeptically when I asked her to model. Fortunately, she is very good natured and knows I am a little “off balance.” I was going to post a different image of the phoropter but Mrs. Diver liked this one better. I guess she was right…………….. again.

I have an idea for the next one, but I want to work it over a little more. I will have it up sometime tomorrow.
