This week share with us something from your everyday...a view from your walk, your car, your office. Your favorite mug, dog, human. Your beloved tree, rock, or camera. Just something from your day to day life.

Please remember that these standard rules apply:
  • Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced. In keeping with our most recent tradition, violators may be awarded first place. Henceforth this shall be known as the Molly-ing rule in honour of our friend and fellow perpetrator.
  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, please check the title or description.
  • At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest ends on May 26.

YouTube to the rescue! "Toast" lens given new life. Wasn't a broken part that no longer manufactured as had been lead to believe. Just required a good cleaning, including removing oil sticking to aperture blades that was the primary problem.

A sea of green
keys1.jpg

These are some keys I take with me daily, for use in difficult situations.

Too long a line at the grocery checkout? A few presses of delete, and it's a lot shorter.

Car stuck in freeway traffic with no exit nearby? Take the esc route.

Flat bike tire? That instant help key sure is handy.

And that pesky chihuahua in the park? Apply some dog control.

Okey dokey, results are in.

@Snowlover Yes, I definitely identify with the morning hot beverage, although I drink coffee. As far as photos go, perhaps showing the mug with a pastry or napkin, or spoon, etc. to showcase more of a "foodie" type of image would be something to try the next time. ?

@Strider64 This is a great storytelling image. I do wonder how this relates to the theme, unless you are a lineman? Surely you don't see linemen working everyday out your window?

@tizeye Ah, yes, defintely relate to a how to video and camera gear, even if I have never tried to fix a lens myself. I like seeing all the tools laid out. My only bit of CC would be to back up a bit to get all the edges of the tools in the frame.

@Janichsan A great use of motion. I would love a wider view to show more of the road and the surroundings, but an interesting story that most of us can relate to.

@oblomow A great night time shot, although I hope this was taken awhile ago and that you aren't still buring the midnight oil in the early summer!

@chown33 I like the story you added with the image, and as a computer guru (presumably) the keys really exemplify daily life.

@imac wannabe A great juxtaposition of two very different modes of transport. Don't they give you a car parking lot?

Thanks for all who participated in what was clearly not a very inspiring theme, lol. Hopefully the winner will choose something more interesting for everyone!

Third: @Strider64

Second: @chown33

First: @tizeye

Tanagra (not really)
I hadn’t been shooting very much with life being pretty hectic, or I would have come up with something maybe. I’ve drastically cut down on my “screen time,” so I’m doing well to keep up with POTD!

Back up a little to show the tools? But...but...but...that would show my messy desk beyond where I cleared for the photo. As it is, the paper strategically hides the wear created by the keyboard, and even had to photoshop the wear in the panel near the left speaker. I think I need a new desk! But will wait as thinking of moving and the desk will join a list of items that won't make the moving van.

My AE-1 is now loaded with B&W film as I test out that and the other lens. Loaded with film also kept me from taking the photo I wanted - trough the back, shutter on "B" and looking through partially stopped down lens.

While an abnormally light turnout, congratulations to everyone who submitted. Well done. I will have the next contest up later today.

Not a Lineman, but there's a DTE substation 3 small blocks away from me and I am always seeing DTE trucks with their cherry pickers, plus they have a major job of changing utility poles out in the neighborhood. ?
