Cheers fellow photographers,

As we just did compete in the "Spring has sprung" contest I thought I follow this up with the "Flower Power" contest. I hope to see some gorgeous imagery from just sprung flowers. Also accepted is any photograph that meets the theme in a more 1970s style.

Same rules apply as always:

The photographs must be your own work.
  • Be creative and have fun.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!
  • At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

Very vibrant colors. A very nice picture.
From the flower comes the acorn - you know the rest.

Very beautiful and well composed. It does not fully meet the theme.

Very nice ! Was that done in a studio or photoshop?

Interesting composition.

Looks very nice. What kind of flower is that?

One drenched daisy from our front yard.

As always a very nice picture.

My boy loves these flowers. He just recently bought 2 of them.

Am I too late?

Spring

You are not to late. Great picture? Did you use a special lens or photoshop?

To the winners:
3rd place: @E3BK For the great depth of field effect.
2nd place: @Alexander.Of.Oz For the great colors and because I just love the picture
1st place: @The Bad Guy for having the most power in his picture of all.

Thanks to everyone. I wondered that no 1970s style flower power pictures where added. Over to The Bad Guy!

Well done everyone. I loved your daisy shot @Alexander.Of.Oz.
As usual @The Bad Guy had a slightly different take on things.
Congrats on the win. On to the next.

Congrats to the winners .... let's see what torment @The Bad Guy thinks up for us .
My shot was actually done on my front porch . It's glassed in much like a greenhouse and gets great natural light in the morning . The background was a big piece of black construction paper taped to the front door . I was able to isolate the flower/stem from the rest of the plant with some wire . IIRC it was shot with a 24-105 at around f11-16 . Tripod and remote release . I bumped up the contrast and blacks and cloned out the stem in Photoshop.

Well done to the winners - great set of entries.

Yes, mine was intended tops the theme to the limits (or beyond)...

Oh my goodness! I was not expecting that with my late entry. I didn't use any specialty lenses, just this awesome Panasonic Lumix 20mm f1/7, which I do happen to think is pretty special FYI. I kicked up the Vibrance a touch in Lightroom + a little vignetting, but no extensive "photoshopping" of any kind. All the DoF is in camera, I was practicing my manual focus control. That is a photo from my archive and it's one of the first sets of photos I took with my Olympus OMD-EM5 when I got it a few years ago. Those are flowers that had just started to bloom in the spring and made for a great subject. I have so many photos of that flower in different angles and focal points and levels of DoF to test out my new gear, haha. That one is my favorite though.

Again, thanks so much for the podium finish and congrats to @Alexander.Of.Oz and @The Bad Guy!! Well done to all who participated and especially to @CmdrLaForge for the judging.
