Three. Yep. Three. Good luck!

Standard rules apply:
  • Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced. Violators might be awarded first place, entry or not!
  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest but you can point the members at the internet for a contextual bio image to illustrate your mimicry.
  • This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.
  • At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest ends on November 9th. Feedback beyond the podium may or may not occur based on OP’s time constraints and/or laziness and/or ill-qualified opinions.

Unless I stumble across a good shot of either the Fernie Three Sisters or the Canmore Three Sisters. This shot of the Bow River flooding from 2005 will have to do. Should be enough 3s in this one to pass muster.

This is part of my children's inheritance - on the left is a silver pocket watch from 1913 (from my paternal grandfather) - in the middle a French carriage clock dated 1910 from my maternal grandfather, and finally a watch brought home from the Pacific at the end of WW2 by my father.

Nikon Z 50, Nikon 35mm, 1/60 @ f/8

They all still work fine; dunno why they all stopped at the same time ;)

Cheers :)

Alright, time for my ill-qualified opinions. I kinda figured we’d have more submissions on a wide open topic, but it’s hard to count to three AND have your hands on a camera. ;)

Three is a powerful number. A rope of 3 cords is hard to break, things appearing in groups of 3 just have a pleasing quality. Take the Three Stooges for example (no, we don’t count Joe Besser).

@oblomow I do like this one. Not just 3 in nature, but Mrs Darmok loves mushroom photos, and I like that each one appears further along than the previous in its development.

@katbel 3 in a perfect row, facing the same direction no less. Certainly a fitting entry.

@dmb8021 Nothing wrong with a good controlled explosion or two, though a little harder to get the sense of threeness.

@Strider64 Ah, we had a nest of robins at the base of our downspout too this spring. We had 4, while you managed triplets. A fun time for all as we watched them grow!

@akash.nu A very pleasing scene. I assume 3 sisters is the name given to this group of mountains. Funny how many mountains end up with human comparisons!

@OldMacs4Me Definitely on to something here. 3 arches within the arch is a good move, architecturally.

@mollyc Three in nature has a magical quality to it. 2 isn’t enough, and 4 becomes too many. The near perfect triangular formation also brings something unexpected.

@Hughmac And here I just have some round Disney puzzles to hand down another generation. That’s quite the collection, and quite the story. I hope your children hold them closely. I hope you didn’t set them all to 3 o’clock on my account!

@Janichsan With pool balls that big, I‘d watch out for the cue! With the angle, one seems smaller than the other 2. I’m sure there’s a story behind the placement.

@mackmgg With the low long cloud on the horizon, it does work well in this ultrawide aspect. That tree on the right adds a nice bit of interest as well.

@gaswerks Very nice presentation and execution here. It almost presents as a sequential shot of one skater as each is in a different pose.

@Clix Pix I see the stamens, though I suspect the flower might have more?

@USAntigoon Oh, you must be careful as the last minute dark horse entry. With a topic so open to interpretation, perhaps even the judge doesn’t know what he’s looking for. This entry gave me pause, as it really delivers on the threeness.

3rd place: Oblomow, akash.nu
2nd place: USAntigoon
1st place: gaswerks

Congratulations!
