Weekly Photo Contest | Reunion | Oct 18-24, 2021

This week’s challenge is “Reunion.” But reunion of what and whom? Family? School mates? Friends? Teammates

Standard rules apply:

• Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.
• The photographs must be your own work.
• You may only submit one photo per contest but you can point the members at the internet for a contextual bio image to illustrate your mimicry.
• This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.
• At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
• If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
• The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
• Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
• Contest ends on October 24th. I'll try to give warning before closing. ?

Here my nonjudgable entry:

A photo of a photo taken at my 10-year high school reunion.

On the left is a friend who recently had a nasty battle with cancer that appears to have involved a tracheostomy. But he’s still above ground, which is great.

Next to him, a guy who learned to fly in the US Air Force, then flew commercial until he retired recently.

Third from the left is yours truly, full of hope for the future, ready to enter private practice.

Next to me is my pal going back to 3rd grade. A good guy.

I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on a new laptop by the time the contest is over, otherwise I'd post just a macro photo of an SD card in an SD card slot!

Unfortunately, this is another competition topic which isn't something to which I can immediately connect, but again, that's fine and just as well since, as I mentioned in the comments following Molly's competition, I am rather busy anyway with shooting for a specific project outside of here and of course also have other everyday obligations as well.

I think the issue here is that many of us don't photograph people, or when we do shoot family and friends we don't put their images up on public internet websites for various reasons, including being mindful of their privacy, and some people are pretty particular about that.

I do occasionally get a good people shot, but would never dream of posting any of them without consent. It may be old school but I expect other photographers to extend me a similar courtesy.
