I've just bought a pair of AirPods Max. I sold my Bose QC35 II to buy these. The good: Nearly everything, sound quality, noise cancelling, transparency, swapping between iPhone, iPad, Macs and Apple TV 4K. Love spatial audio, head tracking watching a movie on projector....

BUT: The weight! I'm struggling with how heavy they are. They fit ok, no clamping pressure, but I can just feel the weight as my head moves.

I'll give it a few more days, but what to swap with if I decide to change? I'm thinking the Sony's WH-1000XM4 or WH-1000XM5 but I will lose all the Apple goodies.

I would try the XM5 as they have a better sound resembling the APM but that’s my experience. XM4 were too muddy for me.

But yeah they are going to be heavier than a plastic design so I would use them sparingly for travel.
