Can someone please point me in the right direction as of what I did to change the normal behavior on terminal. Every time I open it a random number appears next to my user name. How can I revert this?

its a naming conflict on your network. just change your computers name (in sharing preferences) and it should change to your computers name (thats what it is) after a reboot.

That's the hostname of your machine. It's changing probably because you're connecting and disconnecting from your network and your router is giving your computer a new name. You can possibly fix it by going to System Preferences > Sharing and giving your computer a Computer Name.

you guys are awesome. Thank you so much. I had my boot disk cloned and installed on another Pro as soon as we changed the name on that other Pro everything went back to normal. Again thank you.
