I can’t get to ESPN on my mini. It’s the only website I have this problem with. When I click on an ESPN link or select one from my favorites the progress bar gets about one third over and stops. At the same time I can go to my iPhone or MBP and bring up ESPN. So I don’t think it’s a network issue. I realize there’s a lot of joking material here but if I could get some help resolving this problem it would be appreciated.

If you can get to the site on mobile devices on the same home network but not your computer my guess is there is something different about your browser on the computer or the site itself.
Differences could be; some sort of Adblocker or antitracking extension, like Ghostery or AdBlock or even your browser itself if it has built in privacy functions. Try another browser. Try a search for the site then going to it from the search result, the old address may have changed slightly.
It's also possible that you have old Cookies from the site that are outdated. Try removing all Cookies.

I have no issues with that site on my 2019 MacBook Air, iPhone XR or my iPad Air 3. I don't have an iPad mini to test it on so cannot comment on that device. I would try clearing browser data/history on the affected device and try again.

I would repeat, try a different browser, itvwill eliminate a lot of possible causes, even if you have to download one to try. Eg, Vivaldi or Waterfox.

Waterfox is an open-source web browser for 64-bit operating systems, with an aim to be speedy and ethical, and maintain support for legacy extensions dropped by Firefox, from which it is forked. There are official releases for 64-bit Windows (including a portable version), macOS, 64-bit Linux and 64-bit Android.

Waterfox is based on Firefox and is compiled using various compilers and using Intel's Math Kernel Library, Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 and Advanced Vector Extensions. Linux builds are built with Clang. Waterfox is continuing to support the long-standing XUL and XPCOM add-on capability that Firefox removed in version 57.
