iPad Pro Weird dark area on latest iPP 12.9

I bought a used IPP12.9 and started setting it up until I noticed dark area at position #5 on the pin pad (to allow log in). Is this normal? I tried it with different backgrounds but didn't notice it.

Is it the transparency showing the screen behind?

Also what is the light at the top of the screen, maybe a reflection?

Do these dark spots show up all the time?

Looks like the set up screen to me.
