I'm having a problem. When I bring a mouse near any active icon or button, the window will change size, the desktop will blur and an image of the desktop will appear in a band above. When the desktop is blurred, it is impossible to click/activate an icon. The screen will quickly flip back and forth. I tried to attach two images to illustrate, but not sure if that works on this forum. Any ideas?

Possibly it is just "mission control" which lets you switch between apps and desktops. It is triggered by a trackpad-gesture:

To look it up you can go to:
System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures

This is where you also can turn this trackpad-gesture on or off.

Thanks but no trackpad on my Mac. However, I applied your suggestion to the mouse and changed the odd mouse functions like mission control launch to function keys, so they're all F#. Problem solved, but still not sure why it started after 5 yrs with no problem. Must be aging mouse....
Thanks again, really appreciate it
