I just recently set up a new M1 MacBook Air by using Migration Assistant to bring in my stuff from a Time Machine backup of my old MacBook Air. Everything seemed to come through OK, but when I open up Notes, I'm not seeing any of my iCloud-synced notes. Everything else in iCloud seems to be syncing just fine.
But in Notes I only see the On My Mac category, and weirdly when I open Preferences in Notes there's no option to enable iCloud, just "On My Mac". (And yes, I do have Notes sync set up in iCloud in System Preferences > Accounts.) I've tried toggling it off and on several times, to no effect:
And here's the really weird part. When, under "On My Mac" I try to create a new note, when it appears it immediately fills in with an existing note that I know is in iCloud -- I know this because iCloud Notes are working on my iPhone and my other Mac so I can see all my notes there. They're pretty old ones, too, from 2014 or so. Every time I hit ⌘N to make a new note, the text of another old iCloud-based note appears in a new note that lives in the On My Mac section.
What I've tried:
1. Toggling the Notes checkbox in iCloud Preferences on and off
2. Restarting the machine
3. Creating new notes with the hope that it'll somehow shake something loose
I haven't yet fully signed out and back in to iCloud on the machine yet because it's always a PITA to do this and I'm hoping someone will have come across this issue and have some other solution before I sign out and back in again...
thanks
