weird iMessage issue

so i got my IP6 and set it up. since doing that, iMessage (in Yosemite) no longer works with people who are not iMessage users. prior, using my 5s on iOS 8 all betas, it was working fine with Yosemite.
basically, names are red now (instead of blue or green) and clicking on the name shows the user is not registered with iMessage

anyone else see this???

Yes, it's all over the forums. Disabled till October.

It's weird, though, isn't it.

If it was working just fine (as I think it was) in the earlier Beta versions, why drop it now?

They've disabled it to October probably to beef up whatever servers, or code they need for primetime release. Again, that's a complete guess.
