Weird KB issue on old white A1048 keyboard

I have a strange problem with this KB. Every key works fine included CapsLock and LED except the A key doesnt produce an A but replicates the CapsLock feature.

Any ideas if its something software (does it on a PC too) or firmware or hardware? Fixable? Or junk? I dont like to chuck out fixable hardware

The Caps Lock and A keys are right next to each other (unless it's e.g. a French layout), so I'd disassemble the keyboard and look if there's anything that might cause this. Dust, dirt, a piece of metal etc. Clean it thoroughly.
