This is odd: When I type the number "1" on email in black text (Thunderbird), it shows up as a slightly grayish-green color. All the other letters and numbers display as black.

In Appleworks, if I type the number "1" repeatedly, every other "1" is displayed as a slightly thicker, grayer line. It does, however, print out correctly (all black "1"s.

Can anyone help me solve this mystery?

Thanks very much.

Thanks for the reply. The letter "l" does look fine. It's just the number "1" which does this. This is on a 20" iSight iMac.

Strange, huh?

Actually, it's only in Gil Sans Light- my favorite font. The others are fine. No new apps or hacks. It seems like a minor thing, but I just thought I'd ask in case it meant something more serious- hate for the computer to explode or something, and when I call Applecare the first thing they say is "Why did you keep using the iMac when you had the dreaded number '1' keyboard issue?"

I appreciate the help, mad jew.

I'd say that at most it's just a font issue that could probably be remedied by reinstalling Gil Sans Light however whether that's worth the hassle is up to you. I doubt it's a sign of deeper trouble though. :)
