Hi everyone. I have an odd problem that occasionally crops up on my MacBook Pro (M1 Max-2021). It happens every month or two so it's not like it's constant, but I can't figure out what causes it. I get a box in the middle of my screen and inside the box will be a spinning wheel like something is trying to load or a process is happening. However, once the box appears it never goes away. The only thing that gets it to go away is restarting the computer. Then I won't see it for a month or two. I was hoping that by upgrading to Tahoe this would go away, but it just happened again. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? You can see what I'm talking about from the screenshot of my desktop. Thanks.

Does the 'loading' window prevent you from doing anything else? (Can you continue with other things? Can you open your Activity Monitor? Might help to find out if a particular process is always at fault when you see the loading window

It doesn't prevent me from doing anything else, but the box is in the middle of the screen on top of everything else and stays there, so it's hard to do much else! Next time it happens I'll take your suggestion and open the activity monitor.

Next time you get that "loading" box, try Force Quit (from the Apple menu), just to see if anything is reported there as "stopped responding",or something similar. That choice also gives you the possibility of choosing to try a force quit, much the same in the Activity Monitor, but might give you another choice that you can use to back out of some app that may be (or partially) the culprit.

If you have Xcode installed, you could also try using the Accessibility Inspector application to identify the application that created that window. Xcode application menu > Open Developer Tool > Accessibility Inspector. I don't think Apple offers that as a separate download (which is too bad, it's a really handy utility).

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try
