I have a late 2015 27" iMac i7, 512GB SSD, M395 and noticed something a little strange with my Apple mail program. When I hit "reply" to an email sometimes there is a slight pause and the background to the dock changes from a darker grey to a light gray and then back again momentarily before the reply window opens up.

Has anybody else seen this behavior? Is it normal?

I've not noticed it, but from the symptoms you mention, I'd go out on a limb and say it was a bug in El Cap.

Thanks. On further investigation, that seems to be the case. It appears that my wife's older iMac running El Cap. sometimes does the same thing. The other thing I noticed is that that the reply window opens differently at different times. Sometimes it just pops open and other times it has an "animated" - genie like effect (for lack os a better explanation) on opening. It's not consistent in what it does.
