Weird microphone issue

Hi guys

iPad 4. Few years old. Short and sweet, audio input completely gone. Neither internal mic not headset mic works. Tried headset in phone, works great. Just nothing when plugged into iPad.

Trued restarting. Tried full restart. Tried reset all settings. No love.

I could believe the internal mic is broke, it's old. But I would think a headset mic would still work. This leads me to believe it's a software issue, but searches here and Mr. Google find nothing.

Any help is much appreciated

maybe sound card/chip is at fault?

tried bluetooth headset wit mic?

Even weirder, the internal mic works when I record a video with the camera app......

Great idea, but I don't have one. I may take it to the Apple store store just to see what they try.

Siri also cannot hear me.

Yah, I went thru them all. All apps have permission. You would think Siri would have Master permission.
