Hey, any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. It's been happening for 3 days and several restarts have not fixed the problem. The grey/bluish lines in the Finder windows and iTunes windows seem to be, well, check the pic. It's like the white is blown out, the lines are barely visible. All the other colors on screen are fine.

Check out the shadow areas from the finder window and the Quicktime movie window. The lines appear fine/normal only in those areas. And as you can see from the movie window, no other colors on screen are affected.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? And how to fix it? I'm using a 24" Aluminum iMac from Sept. 2007 running 10.5.6.

have you changed the colour profile on your screen lately? If so, try changing it to a different one to make the lines appear as you think they should.

Yeah, I tried changing the color profile several times and even went through the "calibrate" option. Both made no difference.

The reason I ask is because, to me, your screen looks fine. However, if I change my display profile to a bright one, those lines aren't visible at all unless i view the screen from a different angle. I think its most likely to be something to do with that, If I knew how to send colour profiles I would since I have an aluminum iMac too and the profile I have now displays those lines ok.

Ah, thanks for that information. When I took the screen shot and looked at it of course I saw the problem. I thought the screen shot would show the problem on everyone's computer, but obviously not. I didn't think that though. I'm looking at it on another computer now and you're right: it looks fine and this post makes me look crazy.

I've tried every color profile available to me on my iMac and none made a difference with the visibility of the lines. They all, of course, slightly changed all the other colors on my screen, but the main problem persisted through all of them.

I have the same problem. Whenever using the fast user switching feature to flip to my wife's account, I can see the color shift happen (the faint blue lines in iTunes turn white).

Going to display preferences, changing the "Rotation" value then changing it back fixes the color problem. I'd love to know what the root cause of the color change is.

Mac Mini, OS 10.6.2 connected to a ViewSonic VX2235WM.

I found the solution to the problem.

System Preferences ... Universal Access ... "Enhance Contrast" slider must be all the way to the left. Problem solved.
