Hello!

I'm hoping to find some help on behalf of a friend who's having problems with Office on his 2020 iMac. The computer is pretty much brand new and should be running the latest version of everything (Office 2019, Catalina).

He'll be typing a document, and then quite suddenly the page will "reset" itself. The cursor will return to the top of the page and everything that has been typed is deleted. Selecting Undo will restore things as expected, however as you can imagine this is quite annoying!

We've ruled out the problem being his keyboard by switching it with a different one, and the problem isn't one of technique because another person has observed him type & experienced the same problem when using Word on this machine. I'm certain this isn't a case of everything being accidentally selected too.

I'm going to suggest he restarts in safe mode to see if the problem occurs there, but aside from that I can't think of anything else. Do you guys have any thoughts on this? Anyone experienced something similar?

Is he running anything like Text Expander or Keyboard Maestro? That could be doing something funky. Another test would be to sign in as another user and see if it happens there.

Is the document he's working on being synced somehow? Only thing I can think of is a document that's being synced with a server and hitting some kind of glitch where it reloads/reverts to an older verison.

Thanks guys! Both great suggestions, I'll pass them on.

That he's experiencing some kind of syncing glitch seems plausible..
